Hixie: holy crap, looks like google search now uses the html5 doctype
Hixie: i guess this html5 thing really is going to take off

HTML 5 Doctype on Google.com:

<!doctype html>

Hixie: given how much qa that page goes through before shipping
Hixie better get on to his muckers in QA - still a few errors to fix:

Validation Output: 40 Errors

The font element is obsolete.

The center element is obsolete.
The u element is obsolete.

Attribute bgcolor not allowed on element body at this point...

hahaha...exactly! how many QA engineers does it take to make one of the simplest (and often lauded for it) pages online at least halfway well written and structured?

reminds me of the week i spent knee-deep in the XSLT that ships with google mini search appliance to get it to output something clean and reasonable...

<sarcasm>Remarkable how this new html5 is making the web a better place</sarcasm>
Sample code from the "html5" version of google.com that Hixie is all excited about:
<body bgcolor=#ffffff text=#000000 link=#0000cc vlink=#551a8b alink=#ff0000 onload="document.f.q.focus();if(document.images)new Image().src='/images/nav_logo6.png'" topmargin=3 marginheight=3>

This is nothing more than the usual WHATWG Newspeak
